it's a merry ol' day with francie. she's just gotten back to her feet again, she's feeling good, and she's walking with none other than himself! a guy who, she's learning, is far more complex than she initially thought.[break][break]

usually she gives people the benefit of the doubt in the realm of like, y'know, mystery. but this guy takes the cake. he's just got a plethora of stuff about him that she's learning! and here she thought he just liked sinisteas and ghost types.[break][break]

maybe he didn't like either of those things.[break][break]

It seemed he was making the acquaintance of a great many rangers these days. In fact, he was convinced they were intentionally paired with him as a means of keeping tabs on his activities and whereabouts. Considering he had nothing to hide, however, Remiel was hardly worried.

seemed to be one of their best. From what little he knew about her, she was a senior ranger and former gym leader with a history in the region. Though she'd recently returned from traveling abroad for some time. And, it seemed, she had heard some things about him as well.

"Not at all," He responds, casting the hood of his poncho over his head as they enter a wide hallway with a dripping ceiling. "I'm quite used to it, actually. What would you like to know?" The former Admin asks, his Galarian accent smooth and refined as it echoes down the cavern.

Meanwhile, sensing something that made him uneasy and PARANOID, DIOGENES the SHINY GENGAR peeks the top half of his head out of Remiel's shadow. Red eyes scan to and fro in an attempt to diagnose the culprit for this suspicious feeling. Was it the bioluminescent fungi? The echoes?

Or that dreadful mist?

had caught wind of the distinct marking of the galarian no more than 30 minutes ago. Since then, he'd been sent to follow, trailing his tracks with precision befitting one of the best within the organization.

And, where he faltered, there was to conceal his mistakes. Together, there was little one could do to escape their mark.

"Let's move in."

There was little time to waste - the two were approaching the rift, and once they came into contact with it, their chance of success plummeted.

From behind, in the shadows of the cave, the two made their approach toward the duo. Felix marked the first move, sending forth his Klefki from the depths of his tactical belt. The little PRANKSTER set of keys would then send forth a THUNDERWAVE (w prio) out toward them, looking to paralyze.

"oh my goodness, really???" excitement bubbles out of her like a pot on a heat to high.[break][break]

her mind travels through about eighteen different questions before she slaps her hands on her cheeks and puffs them out in exaggeration. "oh man oh boy oh gosh where do i even start? um, um![break][break]

"oh, i know!" she opens her mouth to speak but then a pare of blades land between them. her eyes follow and she blinks stupid at them. "eh?"[break][break]

WOOSH![break][break]

now, a person with any real intelligence would brace themselves for flying backwards. what does francie do? she purposes to grip the blade handle, to keep herself steady and in place, while reaching for her pokéball.[break][break]

her flesh tears in little cuts because of the energy. she manages to pull out a capsule, clicking the center button and expanding the ball before click it again and releasing her dusk lycanroc, louie.[break][break]

"hang on remy!" she calls, realizing only then she'd grabbed the prince by his waist and held him like a sack of potatoes. she finally releases her grip on the sword she grabs onto louie, moving enough for remy to do the same. louie on the other hand uses crunch to bite down onto the blade before him in an effort to hold steady against the energies.

Oddly enough, Francie's eager curiosity is just what Remiel feels he needs to take the edge off during this dangerous assignment. He smiles at her excitement; wider than even he would have thought. Though, unfortunately, the moment is cut short when the distinct sound of keys jingling approaches. In an instant, Diogenes emerges from Remiel's shadow to tank the THUNDER WAVE emitted.

In what seemed to be perfect tandem, a DOUBLADE strikes the ground nearby right after. His Gengar defensively summons a SUBSTITUTE before Remiel is seized by Francie and held in place. The damage they sustain from the SPRINGTIDE STORM that follows isn't anything to scoff at. What Francie hadn't noticed while she'd been busy seizing the sword, however, was that the prince had cast a BOLT, using the aforementioned storm that raged on as a cover.

In a flash, Remiel seizes her wrist before TELEPORTING them both away in an instant. Now standing on a small ridge overlooking the scene and their battling Pokémon, the royal is given a moment to assess his own injuries before reassuring his partner. "Sorry about that, but being anywhere near that Doublade is bad news right now." He remarks, crouched down behind a rock as he pulls out some gauze from the gear pack at his hip. Without asking, he begins to wrap some of it around a bleeding cut on Francie's arm.

"Stay low for the moment. I think I might know who we're dealing with... and they're not to be trifled with." Their tactics were familiar. S.P.E.C.T.R.A. was a sculpture partly chiseled from the breadth of their discipline and cunning, after all. He had enlisted them himself.

The thunderwave hit, then the springtide storm, but before the two could collect the fruits of their labor, the duo had disappeared. Vanished without a trace in sight.

Pushing forward, Felix urged the SPECTRA duo to conquer where their target once stood. It's with a sweeping gaze that he thoroughly inspected the ground for any clues, but as he'd suspected, there were none.

"Tsk. Klefki."

The pair of keys jingled. With a click, a tight FAIRY LOCK secured the parameters. Escape was no longer an option.

Then he glanced toward , silence forcing the air still.

No words were needed to communicate what needed to be done.

[attr="class","body"] the springtide storm whistles in a tornado around them, but perhaps they should've given the girl more credit. a CRUNCH slides against the metal blade, pain surging around the single blade, before the pair disappears.

[break][break] jayden blinks — was it a distortion of the light?

[break][break] as the SPECTRA duo descends onto the spot where the other once stood, jayden frowns. there was no trace of them. although he had read 's reports in detail, there was admittingly a lot they did not know about the avatar's powers.

[break][break] he pulls the duoblade from the earth, reuniting it with it's bretheren, as it floats in teh air above him. reaching into his pocket, he releases his metagross.

[break][break] to his partner, he says. "take cover."

[break][break] suddenly, a barrage of METEOR MASH cries down from the skies above, crashing down upon everything in it's vicinity. a WIDE GUARD gleams around both and him, protecting the two trainers from the onslaught.

before she knows it, they're gone. the danger is gone. louie's just as confused as her, they're both blinking awkwardly at the empty space. and remiel? he looks totally fine and normal??[break][break]

then he's tending to her arm and she feels like a child and a little slow. maybe it was the move she'd only ever seen once before, she'd see ' luxray use it a while back. how strange. did it really jumble her up so bad?[break][break]

her wounds are painful, sure, but her curiosity takes all of her focus. louie carefully watches as remiel fixes her wounds but can feel another presence. he turns, watching as a metagross hits the ground.[break][break]

francie can see the hairs on the back of louie stand up and instinct has her moving to take another ball out. her carracosta flashes to life in front of them.[break][break]

"protect!" the command is quick and the carracosta moves over the huddle of them, protecting them from the onslaught that comes.[break][break]

Remiel is all too familiar with the sight of a FAIRY LOCK that descends upon the chamber they inhabit. "They're locking us in..." He warns with a concerned look. "We're going to have to fight our way out. Taking out that Klefki is the key."

Suddenly they're interrupted by a violent rumbling that shakes a multitude of stalactites free from the cave ceiling above. A METAGROSS that has been summoned onto the scene is the cause of the METEOR MASH that threatens them now. Thankfully, Francie's CARRACOSTA manages to PROTECT them against this onslaught with a firm barrier.

Remiel seizes that opportunity to roll up his sleeve, revealing a MEGA BRACELET that he utilizes to MEGA EVOLVE Diogenes in a brilliant display of light and power:



'GRAAAA!'

And, though paralyzed, the giant Hellmouth endeavours to REFLECT TYPE the Metagross on the battlefield it shares as a defensive measure. This switch in typing is reflected by a steel-like sheen on its once translucent body and an aura of psychic energy surrounding it like a spiritual flame.

The prince takes a moment to address once more as the dust clears, taking her hand and offering it a reassuring squeeze. "It's going to be okay. I'll draw their attention so you can head towards the exit."

Choosing to emerge afterward, Remiel stands atop the boulder he'd been hiding behind to address their attackers.

"Cross. Gallagher. Your training has clearly paid off. Excellent form."

The ex-Admin remarks, shifting his poncho aside to draw a tanto blade from its scabbard. "You've come to kill me then? On the order of ?"

To his co-admin's words, the spectra member took cover behind his Klefki's CRAFTY SHIELD, allowing the rain of meteorites to not only pierce the ground but grant a hint to the duo's hideout.

And it did just that.

There was no concealing the gaping mouth of the mega evolved Gengar. It grinned, and the REFLECTIVE type shared in the defensive measures taken against their series of attacks.

"There."

Felix jutted his chin out toward the pillar of rock they'd fled to. With a spare ball, he sent forth a Froslass, prepared to further out a new attack.

When reappeared from the rubble, it is not without the sharp scowl hidden behind the mask.

"Not just you," he grunted back out at the pompous galarian. Reaching one hand up to his mask, a soft click could be heard, then a pop. It was with a slow, decisive moment that his mask was removed, leaving behind the slanted view of his face. A tight kakashi mask still concealed everything from the nose down. "Her too."

[attr="class","body"] the ground rumbles with the power of a pokemon that jayden knows only too well. a MEGA GENGAR envelops the space with it's power and threatening aura, and the rocket's gaze snaps immediately to where his co-admin points.

[break][break] when their former admin reveals himself to be the traitor that is , jayden's own hand reaches out to his mask. it's not as if it concealed much anyway, outside of a row of terrifyingly sharp fangs, but what reveals underneath is the same tight kakashi mask of his fellow co-admin. his violet eyes burn fierce and full of HATE.

[break][break] "you have betrayed us for the last time, ."

[break][break] his doublade raise above him with glowing white power, before shadows suddenly darting out to encapture either the blond or remiel with the power of a racing SHADOW SNEAK.

although it might come as a surprise to those like remiel who had just met her, francie was no stranger to being a 'target' of rocket's. though, she didn't hear words like traitor thrown around too often and really, francie wasn't so sure that they were well deserved. remiel seemed like a fine guy to her.[break][break]

but then again, she likely seemed like a precious ball of unwavering sunshine to him.[break][break]

"we're backing him up." she told her carracosta and dusk lycanroc. they both nodded, and francie was sure to get up and make her way next to remiel, smiling confidently despite the bit of nerves in her stomach.[break][break]

"tell ya one thing. i've only ever run away from rocket once, and i'm not doin' that again. plus, these two are chump's change compared to ."[break][break]

being targeted by the ex-boss of team rocket, back when she would argue it was a lot less mafia and a lot more cut-throat terror, quelled her nerves a bit. gave her a bit of that confidence she fronted.[break][break]

"louie!" her words are sharp, command seizing attention. the dusk lycanroc takes the hit from the shadows and her carracosta is enveloped into a wave of water, rushing forward to hit the metagross with an aqua jet.[break][break]

the shadows wrapped around louie give him the ability to be close. his fangs drip with darkness as he uses his teeth to crunch down on the shadows, snarling as he does so, eyes blood red.[break][break]

"traitor or not, if he was your friends, you should at least try to hear his side of the story, right?! not just lash out? wouldn't that make you two the traitors to the friendship, and not him?"[break][break]

she's speaking generally, of course. she doesn't know their stories, just information she's gleaned from being cornered by them.

was a name he'd only ever read reports about. To learn that his companion here somehow had known him was a surprise. As much as he wanted to explore that further, however, leaving this cavern with their lives intact was currently his number one priority.

had never been the talkative type. At least not with him. Remiel personally knew little of the man, and had only interacted with him in a professional sense during his dealings with and the rest who had been hired to assist with building S.P.E.C.T.R.A. Despite that, to be looming over a man he once called ally was still strange.

Any hope for understanding or diplomacy that sentiment might have inspired, however, quickly went out the window when was threatened. Though the pedigree of Team Rocket had culminated in elite agents such as them, he would not hesitate to defend her with his life.

"You're fools to continue fighting for them," The former Admin responds, shifting his poncho aside to retrieve another Luxury Ball from his belt. "There's no excuse for it."

And it's that strikes first, though Frankie's Lycanroc swiftly intercepts the Doublade that might have struck them otherwise. Concurrently, Remiel summons a GOLURK to the fray. The giant automaton hovers in front of him defensively while Diogenes tanks a PSYCHIC strike from the Metagross below. The royal turns to regard Frankie right afterward but is suddenly interrupted when she suddenly voices a passionate argument in his defense.

"Francie..."

Were the three of them ever really friends anyway? Remiel wasn't sure. Friendship hadn't exactly come in abundance in his life. His royal birthright had always muddled it. And, even in the hallways of the Rocket HQ, where such things as Galarian lineage mattered less than nothing, his identity as a Team Rocket Admin proved to be a faithful substitute.

He sighs.

"They don't care. Recall Carracosta."

In the wake of a not-very-effective attack, Remiel swiftly orders his Gengar to fill the area below with a CORROSIVE GAS that it belched from its mouth. This gas would sting at the exposed eyes of and like tear gas while also corroding the STEEL that both the METAGROSS and the KLEFKI were made out of.

With this obscuring cloud of gas in place, the royal would then proceed by sending his Golurk down with a clenched fist.


The EARTHQUAKE that followed in the wake of its landing would effect all that dwelled below, including Frankie's CARRACOSTA if it remained. His Gengar, in the meantime, would remain immune to the blast thanks to its LEVITATION. Nevertheless, the force of the attack rippled throughout the chamber so powerfully that it would soon cause a CAVE-IN. Remiel, however, remains calm.

"Apart from eliminating the KLEFKI responsible, there's only one other way out of a FAIRY LOCK..." He states, offering a gloved hand to his companion.

"I admire your conviction, Frankie, but we need to leave. Do you trust me?"

[attr="class","body"] 's concerns fall on deaf ears, falling way to the traitorous HATE that burned like a storm in jayden's gaze.

[break][break] "and if he thought us friends, he would never have betrayed us."

[break][break] pain dripped from every word, and should have looked at him then, he would've seen the agony of a boy hurt too many times. in all the conversations that they had shared, all the similarities that had once tied them together, not once had mentioned his worries. his concerns. his uncertainties.

[break][break] and now it was too late.

[break][break] the carracosta's waves splash powerfully against the metagross who takes the brunt of the attack, standing in front of jayden to protect his trainer from the brunt of the damage.

[break][break] meanwhile, the doublade's shadows flinch back in pain as they are CRUNCHED upon, immediately whizzing back into their owner's hands. just as well, because a WIDE GUARD is needed to prevent both him and felix from suffocated in a cloud of toxic gas. his metagross is not as lucky; the poison melts away it's steel exterior, easily turning the pokemon into a pile of burnt ash.

[break][break] with that, jayden breaks away from the other admin as he chases the two in retreat. he leaps atop his dragapult, just in time for the EARTHQUAKE to shatter against the ground. a Z-CRYSTAL crumbles in his palm as ala manifests into the air and glows with the power of a HYDRO VORTEX aimed straight at both and .
